biography:
Dr.
Karel Benes has spent most of his scientific life at the Institute
of Experimental Botany of the Czechoslovak Academy of Science in Prague
where he became senior scientist in cell biology and developmental
plant anatomy. In 1990 he relocated to Budejovice where he continues
his work at the Institute of Plant Molecule Biology of the Academy
of Science of the Czech Republic. The same year, he became one of
the founders of the University of South Bohemia. He is also a member
of the bioethics committee of the Ministry of Health of the Czech
Republic.
