biography:
Paul
Swanson joined the Nanzan Institute for Religion and Culture in 1986,
starting as an associate editor and then becoming a Permanent Fellow
in 1990. He has been editing the Japanese Journal of Religious Studies
for almost 20 years, and has been actively involved in the editing
and publication of numerous books on Japanese and Asian religions
(including a 6-volume series for Asian Humanities Press). He has been
Director of the Nanzan Institute since April 2001 and acting Director
since 1999.
