Short biography:

Makarand Paranjape started his teaching career at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as Teaching Assistant in 1980. After moving back to India in 1986, he taught at the University of Hyderabad, as Fellow, Lecturer, then Reader. In 1994, he transferred to the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi as an Associate Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences and was later invited to apply for the English Professorship at Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1999, where he has been since. He is a founding Trustee of Samvad India Foundation, a non-profit, public charitable trust, and editor of "Evam: Forum on Indian Representations," an international multi-disciplinary journal on India. In 2004, he was awarded an LSI through Samvad India Foundation for his proposal on "Science and Spirituality: The Delhi Dialogues."
